As parents, we understand the importance of safety and a sense of security when it comes to our children. Our programme is designed for students to experience the thrill and excitement of living in another country.

The Student Adventures team is in constant communication with the parents, teachers and schools before, during, and after the trip, to ensure peace of mind for everyone involved. Our company also follows up with the contributing host families after the trip to see how we can continually improve the programme.

  1. Where will the visiting students stay?
  2. The students stay at host families from the host exchange school. At the end of each school day the visiting group will return to the host school and go to their host family with their host student. During the weekends and most evenings, the visiting student will be with their host family.

  3. How are the host families chosen?
  4. Schools and SA Ambassadors collectively select the host families best suited to each student based on a mandatory application. Health concerns, smoking, pets are just a few of the issues addressed during the written application process. Parents will know 3 months in advance who the host families are, and will have the opportunity to establish relationships with them, if they wish.

  5. How soon do we have to pay for the trip?
  6. The deposit is paid five months before the trip, and the final payment is made one month prior to leaving on the trip.

  7. In case of emergency, how can the parents keep in touch?
  8. Each teacher will have all the necessary phone numbers and email addresses of each family. SA will also have a company representative in the visiting country, with his/her telephone number and e-mail address given to each family in all three countries.

  9. What happens if there is an emergency, and a visiting student is unable to return to their country with the rest of the group?
  10. The SA Ambassador will stay with that student. The teacher will be free to take the rest of the group home at the assigned time.

  11. Will the student's academics suffer while they are away from their schooling?
  12. No! The idea of these trips is to have the visiting students enjoy their trip in their term breaks. The host schools benefit from having their visitors come during school time, whenever possible, so that the whole school can enjoy their presence.

  13. Who are the supervising adults?
  14. Each school will have at least one of their teachers (depending on student numbers) on the trip. In addition, there will be one SA Ambassador in the country during the trip. If there are any concerns during the trip, the SA Ambassador, in consultation with the school authorities. **
